    Therapy from Be Heard

This is an overview of the types of therapy on offer. For more details please contact us.

    Systemic Family Psychotherapy

This form of therapy is helpful for whole families when there are relationship issues, significant changes in a family such as separation or bereavement or sudden illness.

It usually involves meeting with individuals or subgroups of the family to enable people to speak freely, establishing some common ground and setting joint goals, and then bringing everyone together.

We focus on developing practical strategies to manage things differently and try to find a way to understand each other’s experience more fully whilst seeking practical solutions to problems.

    Couples Therapy

This is suitable for couples who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship and would like to find a way to work through them and improve things OR find a way to separate amicably, particularly when there are children involved.

We will focus on understanding each person’s lived experience, identify how problems have emerged and work towards identified goals together, as well as looking at each person’s support network and internal resources.

    Individual Psychotherapy – Adults

This is suitable for adults who would like to seek help with low mood, anxiety, phobias, stress, self-esteem or coming to terms with, and making sense of their life journey.

We will set goals to work towards, exploring key life moments and the impact of those together. We will find practical strategies to improve everyday life and make you more confident about managing stress and difficult feelings.

Play Therapy - Kids and Young People

This is suitable for children aged 6 and up and involves utilising play and art materials to help children express their views, wishes, feelings and worries or to process traumatic or difficult experiences in a safe way.

It encourages children and young people to access their feelings in a slightly removed and playful way which is more tolerable and offers relief from feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed.

I offer parents feedback sessions as part of this so that progress can be tracked and shared.

    Parenting work

I offer VIG (Video Interactive Guidance) Parent/ child interaction or couple interaction is recorded and specific video clips are put together and discussed to identify problematic interactions and alternative ways of being with each other.

We will also explore parents’ experience of being parented in their families of origin and how this impacts the kind of parent they are themselves, and look at practical ways of supporting you to be the best parent you can be for your child and improving the parent/ child relationship.
